Anglers Club Studies Boating Safety

This past Saturday the Anglers Club hosted its second annual boaters safety course here at Columbus High School. The course is sponsored by the Monica Burguera Foundation and is presented by the fine gentlemen of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. There was a total of 43 attendees and amongst the them was our very own Coach O’Neil and son Jonathan O’Neil. The pair became the club’s first father and son to take advantage of the course through the club. The course covered topics such as the types of watercrafts, boating laws, boating safety equipment, trailering, marine navigation, and, of course, water safety! At the conclusion of the course the participants took the boaters safety exam in which everyone passed. They will be receiving their lifetime boaters safety card in a few weeks.

I personally would like to thank the Monica Buguera Foundation for continuing their sponsorship for this course. Thanks to the gentlemen of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for sacrificing their Saturday to educate people on boaters safety. I also would like to thank my good friend and club sponsor Frank Kowalski of Koski & Co. for providing the grill and being the grill master for the day.
