Columbus Beats Southwest 3-2 In an Extra Inning Thriller
The Columbus Explorers took on district rival Southwest yesterday in the semifinal game of the district tournament. It took 8 innings to finish a game that might go down as one of the greatest in Columbus history as the Explorers rallied back to win the game 3-2. Juniors Danny San Pedro, Chris Mederos, and Anthony Arguelles combined to stike out 16 of the Eagles hitters while allowing just 2 hits. Seniors Danny Martin and Mike Fernandez had the only 2 hits of the game for the Explorers. Those 2 hits were the only thing Columbus needed to spark a comeback. Junior Kevin Acosta ended the game in the 8th inning with a sacrifice fly scoring the runner and putting the Explorers into the District Championship tomorrow against Braddock.
