The Columbus Varsity soccer team took home a 2-0 district win against Southwest on Senior Night yesterday, led by the 7 soccer seniors. The Explorers dominated the possession battle throughout the first half, keeping the ball in Southwest territory most of the time, but the game remained tied into the half. As the Explorers kept attacking, they finally got their breakout goal in the second half with a header by senior, Manny Gaunaurd followed by a rebound goal by senior, Julian Sara. Both goals were assisted by senior, Santi Beunza. This game ends 7A District 15 season play for Columbus who ended with a 7-2-1 district record and currently hold an 11-2-2 overall record. The Columbus team will face Gulliver tomorrow at 6 P.M. at the University of Miami before traveling next week for two games in Tallahassee.
