Over the weekend of February 27-28, the Columbus Speech and Debate came home with the first Florida Forensic League State Champion.
Nineteen Columbus Explorers competed at the 2015 Varsity State tournament after qualifying at Regionals earlier in February. Columbus Speech and Debate is happy to report that six students made it to the top 10 in the state with sophomore Thomas Barrera winning the 2015 Florida Forensic League Varsity State Championship!
The following members represented the State championship Columbus Speech and Debate team:
Thomas Barrera, State Champion in Dramatic Interpretation, 2nd in Oral Interpretation;
John Little, State Semi-finalist in Original Oratory;
Tyler Anderson, State Semi-finalist in International Extemporaneous Speaking;
Joseph Chica, Top 12 in Lincoln Douglas Debate;
Noah Lopez, Top 12 in Public Forum Debate;
Joseph Arocha, Top 12 in Public Forum Debate.
