In Defense of Donald Trump

By Joseph Seara

With the presidential debates in full swing, I figured I’d discuss some of the potential candidates and their views Donald Trump. I caved. I promised myself I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t discuss the political mastermind taking over every late night television show. I couldn’t (and probably shouldn’t) succumb to this peer pressure. But I did. After finally admitting defeat, I decided to do some of my own research on the man who has completely taken over many of our lives, some may say like (a) big brother, but I say as a true leader. So before you go back to finishing last night’s homework, let’s take a look at who Donald Trump truly is.

He’s a Religious Man

Well, sort of. According to himself, he is a Presbyterian. He claims to be a member of Marble Collegiate Church in New York City. You see? He is just like us. A normal guy. As a matter of fact he’s kind of like the freshmen in the Wellness Center after school. Trump claims to attend this church but those highly involved have claimed he is “not an active member.” But I digress. Look if that doesn’t convince you then maybe this will. When Trump was asked to say his favorite Bible verse, he responded with, “I don’t like giving that out to people that you hardly know.” Yes, he may not want Americans to know his favorite Bible verse, but look on the bright side: all of the government’s big secrets are safe with him. He’ll be able to lead a nation of people he hardly knows and make all the right decisions (at least we hope) because we probably won’t even know the problems we’re facing. The president handles all our problems while we just sit by? Brilliant.

He’s a Veteran

Okay, maybe he’s not. But he almost was, and that counts for something, right? He attended the New York Military Academy for eighth grade and all of high school. No, to answer your question, he didn’t actually enlist in the military even though he was of age of the draft when the Vietnam War began, but that’s besides the point. Trump claims he had “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military.” So, Donald Trump, without ever having set foot on a battle field and looking death in the eye on a day-to-day basis is better equipped to fight than those that have? Yes, exactly. The same can be said about his political career. Even though he has never been officially elected for any political position, he is deserving and capable of the presidency. He and his great team are ready to do whatever they can (or want) the day Trump is elected. So get ready, losers, ’cause Trump 2016 is a freight train slowing down for no one. That’s huuuuuuuge.
