Explorers Look To Run the Table
The Columbus Explorers haven’t lost a game since the ugly game against Miami Northwestern in Week 2, and look to continue their winning streak in the Class 8A playoff bracket.
The Explorers defeated Homestead 50-0 Friday, and will face off against South Dade this Thursday at Tropical Park. Columbus is entering the hardest part of their season, as every team they face will be increasingly better.
Columbus’ keys to winning these next tough games? Simple. The defense has to continue its dominance. The Explorers defensive success starts on the defensive line, where DE Jeramy Passmore, DT Dylan Perez, and DE Tony Mills have anchored the defense all season. Their intense pass rush and run stuffing game sets up tackles for linebackers like Shaun McReynolds and Zac Castano, and interceptions for defensive backs, Robert Crockett and Courtney Holmes.
On the offensive side of the ball, Columbus needs to get Henry Parrish going early. If Parrish can run behind the offensive line and gash South Dade’s defense, QB Anthony Arguelles should be able to find WR’s Tyler Harrell and Kalani Norris through the passing game. Harrell and Norris have been quite entertaining to watch this season, and their production should continue throughout the playoffs.
When those key points are executed, there’s not many teams that can stop your Columbus Explorers. Fasten your seatbelts for an exciting post season ladies and gentlemen, it’s gonna be a fun ride.
