Preview of 2018 Explorers Varsity Baseball Season

The Christopher Columbus Explorers took a heartbreaking loss in the 2017 regional quarterfinal to a very good Palmetto Panthers team. With 16 returning members from last year’s team including 13 seniors, the Explorers are filled with talent and experience and look to avenge last year’s early exit from the playoffs. Headlining a stellar pitching staff, seniors Danny San Pedro, Chris Mederos, and Anthony Arguelles look to take the Explorers deep into the playoffs. The starting infield is filled with familiar faces including seniors EJ Doskow, Matt Alfonso, and Chris Bohrer and juniors Alex Rodriguez and Albert Espinosa. Seniors Joel Gonzalez and Michael Mas and junior Carlos Linares headline the outfielders who are all returning players from last year. This team is built to make a very deep playoff run like the Explorers have done in past years. The depth the Explorers have on the bench plus all the returning experienced players might add up to one of the best teams in school history. The Explorers look to bring home the schools third baseball state championship this 2018 season.
